One is local knowledge, I've been working on the Northern Beaches and North Shore for over 16 years. In that time I have done all kinds of tree work, from simple pruning and hedging to massive removals involving cranes and cherry pickers.
Tree work is dangerous work and you need someone with experience, who takes the time to assess any potential threats to you and your family and can dismantle your tree with a minimum of fuss.
The other is reliability and I can tell you that growing up as an only child in a small town I was taught to be reliable, respectful and act with integrity at all times...so if I say I will be there, then you can count on me.

Do You Need an Arborist Report?
Depending on the council requirements you will most likely need a Cert 5 or AQF Level 5 Qualified Arborist or higher. I'm a Cert 4 climbing Arborist which means I prefer to be in trees rather than writing reports! I do however know several qualified Cert 5 Arborists and I'd be happy to put you in touch with them.

My Journey...
I arrived in Australia in 2005, after falling madly for a Northern Beaches girl, named Pauline Martin whilst back home in Canada.
Even though I had a background in Sports Marketing my father in law (Brian Martin from Martins Trees) ran a successful tree business for over 30 years on the Northern Beaches and was keen to put me to work.
I loved the work that I was doing so much that I decided to get my Cert IV in Arboriculture from Ryde TAFE.
Having worked at heights in a previous job with Bell Canada I had a natural affinity for the work, the heights and my ever changing view - I was hooked!!
This picture here was me doing some recreational climbing, I even like to climb trees when I don't have to cut them down.
Chances are if I'm not up a tree, mountain biking, road riding or bush walking then you'll find me at North Curly!
